Welcome to New Orleans (Arrival)

I'm happy to say I finally made it to New Orleans! I'm so excited to be here to say the least, and have had a great first day so far. As soon as we arrived, we decided to walk a little over a mile to our hotel since the weather was so beautiful. This was a little difficult with all the luggage that I had, but I can't complain because it was sunny and 73 degrees! Once we got checked into our hotel we were able to tour the French quarter of New Orleans for the night. We started the night out by eating at the original Pierre Maspero's. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful as well.

After our dinner, we were able to go on a ghost tour around New Orleans. I was a little aprehensive of this at first as I am not one for scary things, but to my surprise this was very interesting! I learned a lot about the history of New Orleans, such as yellow fever was an epidemic that killed many people back in the early 1800s. Our tour guide also told us about the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina as well. She also mentioned that even though bad things happen in New Orleans, the people here still always pull through both the bad and the good! We were able to see the most haunted place in all of America as well. This was frieghtening, but it was also an interesting learning experience as well. After we were done with the ghost tour, we were able to take the streetcar back to our hotel. This streetcar is very neat as it provides transportation almost like a little train. This was also very handy to get from one place to the other! New Orleans has been beautiful so far, and I am looking forward to spending even more time here to come.

Streetcar Pass
Until next time,

Hannah
